How Your Data Is Processed

When you upload a FRITZ!Box backup file for decoding:

  • Your file is held temporarily in server RAM only during processing
  • No files are written to disk at any point during the decoding process
  • The decoded results (JSON and TXT) are packaged into a ZIP file in memory
  • After the download is complete, all data is immediately wiped from memory
  • Your export password is never stored or logged

What We Log

For security and abuse prevention purposes, we maintain minimal server logs that contain:

  • Anonymized IP addresses (last octet set to zero, e.g. 192.168.1.x becomes 192.168.1.0)
  • The filename of the uploaded file (not its contents)
  • Approximate geographic location (country/city level, derived before IP anonymization)
  • Timestamp of the request

We do not log: file contents, passwords, decoded results, or any personal information.

Analysis Submissions

If you choose to submit a file for analysis, the following data is stored on our server:

  • Your .export file
  • The encryption password you provide
  • Anonymized IP and timestamp

This data is stored solely for improving the decoder tool and is deleted once the analysis is complete. Please be aware that this is the only scenario where your data is persisted on disk.

Important Notices

Intended Use

This tool is designed exclusively for decoding your own FRITZ!Box backup exports. It must not be used to access, decode, or analyze backup files from FRITZ!Box devices that you do not own or are not authorized to manage.

Decryptor, Not a Password Cracker

This tool is a decryptor, not a password cracker. It requires the correct export password that was set when the backup was created. It does not attempt to guess, brute-force, or crack passwords. Without the correct password, decryption is not possible.

No Warranty or Liability

This tool is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. The author assumes no liability for any damages arising from the use of this service. Use at your own risk.

Hosting & Infrastructure

This service is hosted on a server located in Germany, European Union. All data processing occurs within the EU. The connection is secured via TLS/SSL (Let's Encrypt).
